The negotiating proces on a free trade treaty between Georgia and China will be completed in the winter, the Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dimitry Kumsishvili, said.

In December 2015 was signed memorandum on negotiations on a free trade treaty between Georgia and China. On February 22-23th 2016 was held in Tbilisi the first round of negotiations. During the first meeting the sides discussed the agreement’s main directions and schedule of consultations. According to Kumsishvili, the second round of negotiations will be held in early summer. The third round will be held in the autumn and the final round will be held in the winter and both sides signed a treaty.

Development of the New Silk Road

The Chamber of Commerce of Georgia has become a member of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC). The SRCIC delegation signed a memorandum of understanding in Georgia and had been promoting the development of trade-economic and cultural relations in the Silk Road region. The SRCIC was established in 2015 in the Hong Kong and includes the largest commerce companies of 36 countries.

New promotional project – Check-in-Georgia

Government of Georgia launched Check-in-Georgia project aimed at promoting the country’s tourism potential. Georgia allocated 13 million USD for a series of high profile events beginning in April and continuing until the end of the year. International stars e.g. Eros Ramazzotti, Robbie Williams, Jose Carreras, Maroon 5 will hold live concert in various cities across the country.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, tourism sector is on the rise in Georgia, so organizing international cultural events is a good occasion to promote Georgia abroad.

Georgian Minister of Culture and Monument Protection Mikheil Giorgadze said that the pro-ject plans to create modern open-air concert venues on Georgian’s Black Sea cost.
